Washington Irving Treasury Classic Tales for Halloween

As we approach the Halloween season, I have a book collection that makes a perfect gift. The very new (September 2012) book set from WASHINGTON IRVING: A TREASURY preserves the classic tales of Rip Van Winkle, Old Christmas, and the haunting Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

These three time-honored stories by Washington Irving have become classic tales told again and again. The high-spirited stories of Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow present memorable folk characters that have become part of Americas literary lexicon, while Old Christmas preserves the nostalgia, warmth, and joy of English Christmas traditions.

Irvings most famous tales are elegantly produced in three hardcover cloth-bound books, adorned with ribbon markers and slip-cased into a handsome set. The stories are beautifully illustrated with original paintings and drawings, making this collection the perfect gift for children new to the stories, as well as adults who are already fond of these favorites.

About the Author:

Washington Irving (17831859) was an American author, essayist, biographer and historian. He was Americas first internationally best-selling author. He was probably best remembered for his short stories The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle, both of which appear in this 3-set book collection.

My Thoughts: So Impressed.

The short stores written by Washington Irving are cloth-bound and of incredible quality. I feel like I am reading the books from the original 1800s print. This set is very classic and brings to life these great tales in both the stories and the incredibly well-done drawings and painting pictures throughout the books. These books truly are treasures, and both young and old readers would appreciate them.
